LES PETITS BAROUDEURS caters for those born to be wild !
If you are an active outdoor family and you don’t know “Les Petits Baroudeurs” literally translated as “Mini adventurers”, then you should do! This is an amazing one stop, on line shop that caters for mini adventurers – winter and summer alike, whatever the weather 😉
The founders/owners Céline and Fred, originally from Paris and now based near Annecy in Haute Savoie set up “Les Petits Baroudeurs” based on the simple premise: when you do outdoor activities with your kids, their clothes should be just as good as the adults. As avid lovers of nature, travel and outdoor activities when they founded a family of their own they soon discovered it was difficult to find decent quality, technical equipment for little ones. If Mummy & Daddy have a breathable t-shirt that wicks away sweat to keep them dry and comfortable then why shouldn’t their kids!

Their mission is to find the right equipment for your mini adventurers so that you can concentrate on the most important things: having fun, exploring nature and making memories as a family! Whether it be hiking, running, cycling, skiing…your youngsters (and you) will enjoy it more if they are properly equipped.
When “Les Petits Baroudeurs” contacted me to test one of their products I was delighted. As a lover of the outdoors and the mountains in general and a mother of three young girls’, decent quality clothing and equipment is ESSENTIAL. We LOVE going outdoors as a family and the mountains are our happy place. Your children being warm, dry and comfortable can literally make or break an outing. (We have all had the inevitable breakdowns when your little one is cold or wet…and it’s not much fun ).

We decided to test a ski jacket for my middle child (who is 6 years old). As a middle child she tends to wear mainly hand-me-downs, so testing a beautiful new ski jacket was a special treat too. We chose the Lego (Yes LEGO Wear is the same Danish brand as the Legos that I make castles with daily with my youngest daughter). I am glad to say that the clothing side is just as robust as the bricks 😉. They have produced a range of comfortable, reasonable priced, technical, fun and functional products, all at once!
LEGO clothes have been designed to give youngsters as much freedom as possible. For example, to make them comfortable, the range of waterproof clothing is also very breathable. My daughter LOVED the jacket. Style wise, its girly without being 100 % pink – a nice purple colour adorned with different colour and size snowflakes. Personally, I love snowflakes – someone once described them to me as winters flowers and I love that definition.

We have already tested the ski jacket in a full range of different conditions (from -15 icy cold sunny days to torrential rain both whilst skiing in the same week 😉 ) and we have to say it’s AMAZING – my daughter did not complain once about being cold and she stayed perfectly dry. Not only is it stylish, but its very warm, waterproof and super comfortable. The snow skirt ensures no snow creeps up should she wipe out skiing and it is also polar lined up to the the chin to cover the zipper, and in the hood for a soft touch on sensitive little faces.
The jacket has also been worn to school too (given the snow and wintery conditions here at the moment) and its proved great for the playground too. The long length is particularly appreciated as it covers the top of her thighs keeping her extra warm without hindering her movement (like all my girls she has energy to burn and is super active).

Technically, the jacket is 100% waterproof (8.000mm), has welded seams to ensure nothing passes, neither the rain nor the wind. And with 3M thinsulate technology, you know that your little adventurer will be warm whatever happens. For little tom boys (my daughters all fit in this category), this jacket is extremely resistant to abrasion (5,000 rubs) so perfectly durable – looks like my youngest munchkin will happily be wearing this in a few years time too. In short – the jacket lets’ kids be kids!

Regarding – “Les Petits Baroudeurs”, “Les Petits Baroudeurs” is far more than an online shop – it’s a real community. The owners themselves search and test the products. They are knowledgable and super helpful. They can advise you on all of their products and frequently carry out tests. Their service is quick and speedy – we received our products within two days.
Not only do they have a blog (that you can access via their site) that details top tips for everything related to adventures with kids and comparisons between different products, how to choose the right equipment, health advice etc. they also share their top tips on trips as a family with guest families sharing their adventures too (there are some great ideas in France and abroad from hikes with donkeys, cycling & hiking trips as a family) and of course everything related to skiing. They also have a private group on Facebook “Barouder en Famille” where you can ask other members advice.
In short: they are truly passionate about what they do and transmitting their experience and expertise so other people can get outdoors too.
If you are a family who love being outdoors – and love being active whatever the weather Les Petits Braoudeurs is the right place for you.
