So what is Mountain Girl?
Mountain Girl is a rather fabulous range of lifestyle products developed in Val d’Isère for savvy locals, holiday makers and mountain lovers alike. Created in 2016 Mountain Girl has a fresh, contemporary compelling style with a growing range of lifestyle products, ranging from subtly branded clothing and accessories to jewellery for all the family, with new products and co-branding in the pipeline for 2017-18 (from beautiful cashmere ponchos to cool fashion items for the younger members of the family 😉 Watch this space!).
The good news is you don’t have to visit Val d’Isère to buy their products…Mountain Girl has its own e-shop too 😊
Who is Mountain girl?
Mountain Girl is a quintessentially stylish French woman called Alice. (Alice oozes that nonchalant French chic, that French woman are renowned worldwide for…casual yet elegant at the same time). Originally from Lyon, Alice left her corporate life and job in private equity and her weekly commutes between London and Paris, six years ago to live in Val d’Isère with her “beau” Jules – now known as Mountain Boy. Now married, they share this lifestyle with their two gorgeous young children – Alice’s daughter from a previous marriage and their little boy, otherwise known as mountain girl & mountain boy.
So how did someone from a background in private equity end up creating a lifestyle Mountain brand with their own shop?
After years in private equity Alice had a strong desire to get involved in the operational side of things and get her “hands dirty” figuratively speaking! After spending some time in Val d’Isère Alice noticed a gap in the market for good quality souvenirs.
It’s a fact that most people when they travel they like to bring back home something that reminds them of their holiday whether it be a painting from Bali, silk from India, ceramaics from Morroco etc. That something special that reminds you of that place and brings back those special holiday memories rather than a cheap knick-knack. Alice thought this was missing in Val d’Isère – something whereby people could bring back a little part of the mountains to their everyday lives whilst remaining stylish.
Afterwards the rest came down to opportunity. Opportunity acted as a springboard to launching “Mountain Girl”. Clearly Alice is a go-getter, a savvy business woman with an eye for style and detail. Within a very small space of time she had created her own brand! The opportunity that arose was to take on a well-located premise in Val d’Isère, so Alice decided on creating her lifestyle brand Mountain Girl with a shop and e-boutique.
Does the shop house other brands too?
Absolutely, Mountain girl is essentially developing its own concept store and houses other quality brands that reflect her positioning such as the well-known “Le slip Français”, the beautiful stationary brand Paper tiger etc. Watch this space too as Mountain Girl has lots of projects in the pipe line…Mountain Girl even stocks Mummy in the Mountains Val d’Isère colouring in postcards 😉
