Winter is here (Yippiiiiieeeee) and it’s time to head to the snow covered mountains with your family.
One of the most challenging things for any parent is packing with little ones, especially when it comes to going to the snow.
Ski helmets, jackets, inner and outer layers, are all important but it is also the little things that can make for a comfortable day on the slopes. Items like lip balm or sunscreen that often go forgotten or good quality winter gloves are musts on and off the slopes.

These items can save your day from “that just did not go as planned” (very polite verison of what I would say ;-)) to “what a great day”.
Soooo without further ado, here is a list of must bring items to pack for
your family ski trip for your little ones:
What to Pack On and Off the Mountain
Ski Related:
2 good quality thermal layers top and bottoms (MITM recommends BARTS, OdloPatagonia & Helly Hansen)
3 pairs of ski socks (high quality, non-ribbed)
1 – 2 pairs of ski mittens (with hand warmers & if really cold, inner gloves)
2 middle layers
1 or 2 fleeces or a ski jumper
1 ski suit (this tends to best for toddlers – older kids tend to prefer salopettes/jackets)
1 pair of ski salopettes
1 warm, waterproof ski jacket (That can double up as a coat on an evening)
1 neckwarmer – Buff style
1 ski mask
1 helmet (if you do not rent) + goggles + sunglasses
Mini pocket sized lip balm/sunscreen
Pocket tissues
Pocket sized snacks – mini energy bars, chocolate bars, dried fruit – whatever your kids like…
Other: Remember that most younger kids will spend most of the day skiing and once home they will be happy to chill in their thermals/joggers until dinner.
1 pair of waterproof skiboots for après ski, slippers for the chalet/hotel/apartment, swimming costume + hat (subject to the country), underwear, jeans, t-shirts, warm jumper, gloves, warm hat, joggers, pyjamas & something special for a night out 😉

Toiletries
Normal toiletries are necessary, but don’t forget a cold cream for your body, hair bobbles and lots of moisturizer. Mummy in the Mountains recommends SNÔ products
Subect to the age of your child don’t forget a basic first aid kit too : pain relief, plasters etc.
Activities:
Bring a few essentials to make sure your kids have something to do whilst chilling (subject to where you are staying and what facilities are provided) : books, colouring in, a pack of cards…and of course an ipad with a few films on it 😉
