A Weekend of Cooking, Walking, Spas, and more…
If you’re looking for a unique experience in the Alps, a few of my girlfriends and I did the hard work for you and recently tested out Chalet Savoie Faire.
What was previously a typical Savoyard barn has been lovingly converted into a luxury mountain retreat complete with a cooking school. Although our stay here was tough, we are pleased to report that we can highly recommend taking a trip here !
Over a few visits here, I have come to know the hosts Nikki (a bubbly Australian chic) and her lovely Irish husband Hugh. One time I mentioned that I was thinking of inviting some friends up for a girls’ trip. It didn’t take long for Nikki to put together the following itinerary for us that included;
- A cooking class (themed to suit us)
- Walking / snowshoeing
- A trip to a nearby spa for lunch, spa, sauna and steam-room
- Massage treatments
- Drinks at the bar
- Yoga classes
- Chick flicks on the big screen
- And plenty of amazing, wholesome food
How could we resist!? A quick email out to a bunch of girlfriends and voila! It was happening. A chance to escape the responsibilities of daily life, while bonding together in a beautiful setting.
The trip was perfect and everyone had a fantastic time. Chalet Savoie Faire seems to have the same effect on everyone – as soon as you enter the building, you instantly feel relaxed. I think it has something to do with the gorgeous finishings and thoughtful touches everywhere – it’s like being inside the pages of a magazine! There are inviting spots to sit and relax everywhere you turn with rugs, cushions, books and warm firms to keep you cozy.
Plus, Nikki and Hugh are the perfect hosts. Nikki is passionate about good, wholesome food and you’ll pick up a few new tricks for the kitchen. You’ll no doubt share lots of laughs and stories and by the time you leave, you’ll have two new friends as well.
Depending on the season, you can also do skiing, cycling, shopping, yoga, forest picnics, market visits and more. Up to 10 people can stay in the chalet at once with extra accommodation available nearby if needed.
For us, we were all coming from the Annecy area so loved spending time in quiet of the mountains, but you can also easily to day-trips to Chamonix, Albertville, or Annecy, and it’s under 2 hours from Geneva airport.
